Learning scripts on planes looks ABOUT as douchey as sketching in art galleries but sometimes auditions have to be prepped in transit…particularly when you’ve been invited to a Bryan Ferry concert in Venice!?!
My friend is being very lenient about testing me on lines which I patently haven’t learnt yet and soon the flight is over and we are shuffling out of the plane with dress bags filled with sparkly cocktail dresses.
The water taxi to the art deco Bauer Hotel motors us through a Venice even more dreamy than I remember it and a few peach Bellinis later we find ourselves at a derelict Italian chapel which, filled with lanterns, fir trees and strobe lighting, provides a pretty surreal setting for Bryan and his sequin-clad dancers.
Back in London, two auditions down and the summer season in full swing another night starts at Nicholas Oakwell’s autumn winter 2012 couture collection at Claridge’s. Oakwell’s team has re-visioned the ballroom as a 1920s inspired French salon and there was a lot of uploading to Instagram as Tali Lennox and Lydia Hearst model some aggressively bejewelled couture evening gowns.
Later that night the Serpentine opened its doors to literally hundreds of party-goers for this year’s annual event hosted by Leon Max. With a deliberate effort not to put a heel through the abundant orange chiffon I just about managed to rock out to Azealia Banks (I have been OBSESSED with ’212′ for the last few weeks!?) in a floor-length Leon Max gown paired with a costume jewellery choker by Stella & Dot a super-cute online boutique with great pieces to pair with summer maxis and bikinis!
